The Peloton Studio is a Hollywood-meets-Soul-Cycle-meets-coffee-shop. The lighting inside the studio feels like some sort of Las Vegas Super Club. And the Jack's Coffee (#sponsorus!!!) was delicious. Only credit cards and debit cards are accepted at the coffee bar. Cool. This is an impressive set up for sure. It's kinda mind blowing this is what exercise is like now. Jennifer Sage, founder of the Indoor Cycling Association, told the Washington Post there were three primary mistakes being made in the booming business of indoor cycling: Too Much, Too Fast (too much intensity); Not Keeping It Real (bringing other exercises like light weight training onto the bike, diluting the workout); Wrong Notes (not picking the correct music, especially trying to fit a workout to music rather than fitting music to a workout).

PS: Indoor cycling, as an organized activity, is a form of exercise with classes focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity (race days) and recovery, and involves using a special stationary exercise bicycle with a weighted flywheel in a classroom setting. It is commonly called spinning.

WebMD on one of the potential dangers of Indoor Cycling: "Is it bad for your hearing? According to Brian Fligor, ScD, the director of diagnostic audiology at Children's Hospital Boston, this depends on how loud the music is and how often you are exposed. 'I am a little more concerned for instructors who teach a couple of classes a day, five days a week, than someone who takes a class or two.If the sound is under 100 decibels, it likely not causing damage. If it falls below 115 decibels, it may cause temporary, but not permanent damage,' he says. 'Once you go over 115, all bets are off and there may be permanent changes in how your ear deals with sound.' If you are concerned, Fligor suggests asking the instructor about the volume or wearing earplugs."

After the 45 minute classes, Alex was available for photos and autographs. The improvised line of out-of-breath-and-sweaty spinners made for slightly awkward social interactions. Shane Ferro, daughter of Team Exergy Training Camp hosts, was there.

Indoor Cycling isn't the only Party-Style-Indoor-Stationary-Endurance-Sport: Treadmill studios are also gaining popularity.

Peloton Studio apparently hires Instagram-light-famous spandex-abs-fitness girls to just hang out and take free classes. I recognized @robinnyc through our collab with @icnysport; she wears her reflective bandanna around town while showcasing her formidable abdominal muscles and space age lycra leggings. I offered to take a photo for her alongside @alex_howes because I figured it was the right thing to do and plus we kinda know @robinnyc and we definitely know @alex_howes—even though I hate taking iPhone photos for other people. I'll usually say something really passive aggressive like, "Ha ha I'll invoice you." @robinnyc failed to tag @manualforspeed on her eventual Instagram post. Alex was legitimately positive about the whole thing. He seemed to even enjoy it. He was overwhelmingly and unflinchingly positive about/with people with obviously inferior genetics and cardiovascular health (especially with me).

@timwillis (MFS East Coast HQ freelance IT dept, friend, and cyclist) attended the class (in a Cycling Inquisition kit. Shout out new website!). He proceeded to average 275-300 watts for 45 minutes and yet didn't "win" the spin class. Two dudes named phmorton and Jerbo beat him though (833 - 749 - 709). we're still not sure how the point system works, but given the DCR, I bet it's a beautifully complex algorithm.
